Cornmeal Crusted Ochro

I always thought that ochro or okra as it is commonly called in some countries was yucky and not for me, until I went to a friends house, for Sunday Brunch and I enjoyed it.


16 ochros

1/2 cup all purpose flour

2/3 cup cornmeal

1 tsp cayenne pepper

1 tsp salt

1 egg, beaten

Coconut oil to fry

Wash ochros and pat dry.  Put flour in a plate.  Combine cornmeal, cayenne pepper and salt in another plate.  Dredge okra/ochro in flour, then dip into egg and dredge in cornmeal. Fry in hot oil until golden and tender.  Drain on paper towels and serve.
