Trinidad Fish Broth

Everyone in Trinidad and Tobago love the Trinidad Fish Broth.

2 lbs fish, sliced
2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp salt
1 tsp hot pepper
1 tbsp lime or lemon juice
2 tbsp green seasoning
1/2 lb potatoes
1/2 lb carrots
1/2 lb green fig
2 oz macaroni, broken in pieces
1/2 cup coarsely chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp cooking butter

Clean fish and season with garlic, salt, pepper, lime juice and green seasoning. Peel potatoes, carrots and green fig and cut into pieces as desired. Boil potatoes and carrots in enough water to cover until partially cooked. Add green fig and macaroni to potatoes and boil until almost cooked. Add fish with seasonings, onion, tomato, butter and more water to make desired quantity of broth. Cook until fish flakes easily. Add a little salt, hot pepper and lime juice and leave to cook.
